Obituary of Barbara Ellen Johnstin

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Johnstin. Barbara E.

Frankenmuth, MI

Barbara was born August 31, 1930 to the late Helen Wallace and Robert Matheson. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage. She married Lee Gordon Johnstin and would have celebrated 75 years of marriage on September 2. Together they raised four children, all born within four years.

She was a proud stay-at-home Mom and homemaker. She read the Bible and truly loved the Lord and Savior and doing volunteer work at their church with Lee. The true loves of her life and the many joys it brought to her was her family. When the grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived, she embraced the added blessings. She spent as much time with them as possible either at the cottage, travelling to Toronto, Canada or visits to their homes. She enjoyed the many adventures she and Lee would encounter as they traveled the United States and Canada in later years. She loved to exercise, taking many classes over the years, including ballroom dancing with Lee.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Lee; children, Karin (Ron) Reinbold, Susan (Boyd) Davis, Robert (Janet) Johnstin, and Thomas (Debra) Johnstin; grandchildren, Stacie (Chad) Gamet, Robert Jurek, Michael (Britney) Johnstin, Eric (Lee) Johnstin, Matthew (Carrie) Reinbold, Ryan (Lisa) Reinbold, Sara Johnstin, and John Johnstin; great-grandchildren, Pvt. 1st Class Austin Reinbold and Landin Reinbold, Chloe and Sophia Johnstin, Fayth Jurek, Lucas and Ella Johnstin.

The family would like to thank and express their gratitude to the many kind and caring health care workers who cared for Barbara during her long journey with Alzheimer’s to her heavenly home, especially A & D, Wellspring, Close to Home Assisted Living (where Lee and Barb resided), and most of all Heart to Heart Hospice. Standout service provided by many of the above, but the hospice team, Mary, Megan, Pat, Beth, and Mary L. who went out of their way to comfort both Lee and Barbara. An extra special thank you to the wonderful friend playfully known as Beyonce, too. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are to consider memorial contributions to Barbara's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.stjude.org  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan.
