Obituary of Janis Elene Dyer

Janis Elene (Bender) Dyer, age 81 passed away on July 21, 2023, at her home in Bay City, Michigan, surrounded by her loved ones after a short battle with cancer.  Janis was born on December 11, 1941 to Alex Bender and Madeline VanTol.  She was married to Richard Dyer who predeceased her on November 28, 2013.  She enjoyed being up north at Tawas and Sand Lake, spending time with her family.  She had a passion for scratching lottery tickets.  She was admired by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
 

Surviving are her children, James (Lori) Dyer, Tim (Jill) Dyer, Scott (Colleen) Dyer, Sean (Renee) Dyer, and Todd (Theresa) Dyer; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Betty Reaume; two brothers-in-law, Robert Dyer and Tom (Kathy) Dyer; three sisters-in-law, Theresa (Fred) Gibas, Mary Gourd, and Beth (Wayne) LaPratt; and several nieces and nephews. 
 

In addition to her parents and husband, Janis was predeceased by her grandson, Aaron Dyer; one brother, Robert Bender; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh Reaume, Phillip (Catherine) Dyer, John (Margit) Dyer, Sonnie Gourd, Pat (Tom) McSween, and Kathy (Paul) Irvine. 
 

The family is grateful for the staff at Compassus, especially Amber for the kind, loving and compassionate care.
