Obituary of William John Erickson

Passed away on August 8, 2023 at the age of 83 years. He was born August 16, 1940 to the late Sydney and Margaret Erickson, in Dorchester Mass.

He was an active member of the Auburn Williams Lions Club and formerly the Bay City Lions Club. He was very proud to contribute 38 years of dedicated service while holding various positions within the organization, including but not limited to presiding as District Governor. He made many friends throughout the years, one of which that held special recognition in his life was dear friend Steve Vantol.

He enjoyed passing time in the company of his family members, especially his grand and great-grandchildren who often deferred to his considerable knowledge base of all things trivia during family functions and lazy summer afternoons. You could often find him moving up the leaderboards on Words With Friends, watch him breeze through the "Back Nine", or enjoy a game of bowling during his more active years.

Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia Erickson (Strauss) whom he married in 1992. Also his sister Beverley (and George) Blinn, sister Barbara Zmuda, son William (and Kathy) Meyer, daughter Linda Ethridge, Grandchildren Autumn (and Jacob) Reminder, Mackenzie (and Macey) Haller, Nicole Barber, Tim (and Katie) Barber, and Lauren Ethridge, great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Floyd, Vivian, Lane, Carolyn, Jade, Johnny, Owen, and many additional nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his aforementioned parents, sister Mary (and Charlie) Dallas, sister Nancy (and Dick) Whitham, step-son Johnny Haller, grandsons Jackson Haller and Jacob Ethridge.

Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a time to be later determined, and a memorial service will take place at a later date to be announced via Facebook or personal correspondence.
