Clayton, Leo H.

Saginaw, MI

Leo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 30, 2023 at the age of 92.  He was born on September 15,1930 to James and Anna (Chapler) Clayton. He was a member of The West Saginaw Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, since his baptism in September 1976.

He worked as a machinist with Wickes Saginaw Machine and Tool, as well as Saginaw Machine Systems as the head Lathe man, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed camping (especially at Old Orchard Park in Oscoda), fishing, planting a garden, playing games, and telling great unique stories such as -- The AuSable Monster.

He owned a bait and tackle / upholstery shop along with his love of his life, Carla Mae.

Leo especially enjoyed helping others learn Bible truths and the wonderful hope it holds for the future, such as the resurrection of the dead.  His favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11 which states, “‘For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope”.  He loved discussing this, as well as the rest of the scriptures, especially with his family, but with anyone who would talk with him.  He was such a fine example of someone who loved the true God Jehovah and his family. He was deeply loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his children, Lori Klim, Ronda (Joel) Schmeichel, Myra Henry, Amy Clayton, Leo (Tammy) Clayton, and David (Deborah) Clayton; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Leo was predeceased by is dearly loved and adored wife, Carla Mae (Masker) Clayton; his siblings, Paul, Edward, Rolf, Al, George Clayton and Mary (Les) Bluemer; and a great-grandson, Alexander Clayton.
