Obituary of Robert Lloyd Rittenberg

Robert “Bob” Rittenberg, of Twining, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the age of 85, after an extended illness. He was born on July 17, 1938 in Whittemore, Michigan to Lloyd and Evelyn (Barr) Rittenberg. He married Gloria (Vaughn) in 1963 and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. 

Bob was a lifelong member of the Twining Community of Christ Church, retired from Starboard Industries, and enjoyed being a member of the O.A.A.R.S. Ogemaw Arenac Amateur Radio Society (Call Sign: KA8GIN) and three local wood carving clubs. He had many hobbies over the years; motorcycles, dune buggies, CB radios (Handle: Wreck-N-Bar), to name a few. He made some of the most beautiful wood carvings, pens, and keychains. He especially liked making carved wooden comfort crosses that he shared with many people over the years. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria; children, Julie (Paul) Phelan, and Steven (Tabitha) Rittenberg. He is also survived by grandchildren he was so very proud of, Nicholas Phelan (Elizabeth Smith), Samuel (Hannah) Phelan, Amanda Rittenberg, Kayla Rittenberg, and Jacob Rittenberg (Hannah Dukesherer); and two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Charlotte Wrzesinski. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Tristan and Thomas Rudolph; as well as his brothers, Jack Rittenberg, Ronald (Beth) Rittenberg, and James (Sis) Rittenberg. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Twining Community of Christ Church on September 30, 2023, visitation at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. lead by Pastor Ron Rousse and Elder Rob Barr.
