Obituary of Susan Elizabeth Somerville-Franz
Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Susan Somerville-Franz was an animal activist with the humane society and PETA for some time. Always finding homes for those animals in need. She devoted her life's work to animals in need of rescue from bad situations or abuse. Susan would reach through the fence of any property to save any animal in need of rescue. She once was arrested for protesting General Motors use on animals during safety testing. Susan rescued many animals during her time with the humane society.
Susan Somerville-Franz passed away peacefully October 13, 2023 while at the Tony and Trish house for the terminally ill.
Many words can be used to describe Susie. Genuine, Unique, loyal, Fun and Loving. She loved to be silly and looked for the humor in every situation. She was a stylish, classic beauty who processed a lot of charm. She modeled for Town and Country clothing several years earlier. Her smile would light up a room. She was often told she looked like Jackie Kennedy, but prettier.
Born to Choppy and John Somerville in 1953, Susie traveled to England often where her mother was born and raised. She even lived periods of her life in England with family and friends.
In 1985 Susan married the love of her life Joseph Paul Franz. Together they helped raise Joe's four children: David Asher Franz(Alexis), Nathan William Franz(Sarah), Lauren Rebekah Lazorchak(Michael) and Mary Katherine Franz. All survive her including two sister in Laws Robyn Franz-Schneider(Tom) and Gwen Franz(Tom), grandchildren, nieces and one half brother Jon.
Susan was predeceased by her parents Choppy and John and three brothers Paul, Chris and Tim.
Susan was elegance, grace and a spirited beauty. We will miss her spirit, humor, wisdom and kindness. Susan had many friends including two very close friends Mary Hewitt and Carol Socha that meant the world to Susie.
To honor Susan's memory treat others with kindness, forgive someone who wronged you, accept people as they are. And above all else love your family and friends hard. Like Susie, carry on with silent sophistication and grace. And always have your pets spayed or neutered.
We would like to Thank the Tony and Trish house for the terminally ill for all their help and love and comfort they show people everyday. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
