Earl T. “Tom” Pretty, age 80, passed away November 7, 2023. He was born on October 8, 1943 to the late Charles and Laura (Giddings) Pretty of Muskegon, both of whom were born in Neebish Island.

He served his country in both the U. S. Army, from 1966-1968 in Vietnam, and in the Sault National Guard 1437^th Engineering Company.  He was also a past member of the American Legion.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan Pretty; her children, Aaron (Angela) Rettelle, Bernard Rettelle, and Lisa (Henry) Davis; her grandchildren, Bethel and Andrey Young; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers-in law, James (Kathy) Boswell and John Boswell, all of Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Mary Morgan of Kentucky, and Charlene (Nickolas) Dietrich of Port Huron, Michigan; and Tom’s caregiver, Mark Shull of Gladwin, Michigan.  Also surviving are his brothers, Charles W. (Wanita) Pretty of New Era, Michigan, Franklin H. Pretty of Shelby, Michigan, and Wayne Allen (Sherri) Pretty of Hart, Michigan; sisters, Charlyn Nash-Schultz of Hesperia, Michigan, Charlen M. (Mike) Stark of New Era, Michigan, and Cathy Burmeister of New Era, Michigan; brother-in-law, Everett Ayers; many nieces and nephews; Jennifer Phenning and family, Jessica Phenning and family, Shyanne Dela Pas and family, and James (Jay) Vellem and family; as well as friends and family in the Upper Peninsula, Muskegon, Beaverton, Au Gres, Michigan, and Kentucky.  He was predeceased by a sister, Cathryn M. Ayers.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., April 21, 2024, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 309 S.
