On November 10, 2023, Charity Fabrette Redfern (Thompson), beloved Daughter, Mother, Friend, respected businesswoman, devoted Christian and servant to God passed away at MyMichigan Health in Midland, Michigan. Charity was born in Chicago, Illinois to the parents of Gladys W. Willis and Johnathan Thompson. Charity moved to Michigan at the age of six. She graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan. Charity obtained a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and followed with a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University in Human Services. Charity moved to the Midland area in 1991 where she would raise her family, and share her faith.

Charity will be remembered for her beautiful smile and she brought much joy to those she shared her life with. She had a passion for home improvements, remodeling and loved working in her yard.

Charity was known as a thoughtful, kind, and loving person, she always made sure to pray for others, especially when they might have been facing struggles or in a time of need. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She enjoyed traveling, had a passion for music, and her sense of humor always left you cherishing the time spent together. Charity loved holidays, sharing together with family, friends, coworkers and neighbors. Year after year she made the Christmas season special for loved ones, sharing handmade gifts, cookies candies and cards.

As a child of God, Charity was filled with ever present love, gratitude, hope and drive. In the service of God she was a good Steward. She became interested in God and the workings of church in elementary school. She never stopped working for the understanding of God’s law.

Charity was a devoted caretaker, treasured her family, and taught people to embrace every moment. She is survived by her Mother, Gladys W. Willis, Daughter, Ashley Redfern, Son, Kevin Redfern, II, two Granddaughters, Olivia Redfern and Charleigh Cannon, Brother, Jordan (Josy) Thompson two Sisters, Sybrina (Willie) McCaster and Deborah (James) Bankhead, Aunt and Uncle Ann and Wille Singletary, Aunt, Mary Whitehead, Uncle, W. Thompson along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Charity is preceded in death by her Father, Johnathan Thompson, Grandmother, Lueaner Willis, Grandfather, Herman Jordan, Uncle, L.B. Willis, Uncle, Roosevelt Willis, Grand Uncle, W.B. McBride and Uncle, Eddie Brown.

All are welcome to join us in celebrating Charity’s life on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at The New Life Vineyard Church, located at 1014 E. Ashman Street. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with luncheon to follow.
