On Sunday morning, November 19, 2023, our beautiful sister and loving aunt, at age 75, peacefully entered into the Kingdom of Heaven. She was born to the late Millard and Marguerite Roeder on January 6, 1948, in Bay City, Michigan. Mary graduated from Bay City Central high school in 1966. Her Christian upbringing began at the Christian Assembly Church with her Grampa Roeder being the minister. Mary enjoyed singing with the Bay Chorale. Her life was fulfilled with the love she received from her many pets. She also enjoyed creating floral arrangements and loved the challenge of learning new crafts. After many years of service Mary retired from Kroger in Essexville. Her numerous trips to Florida and Mackinac Island were some of her happiest times. She was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Essexville.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, William and Henry Roeder; and her sister Jane (Ken) Lyons. Also surviving are nieces, Kim Maher, Kerstin (Alan) Belyea, Lindsay (Bryan) DeJarlais, and Emily Lyons and spouse (Joe Conners); nephews, Jeff (Brenda) Roeder, and Garon (Onny) Roeder; and many great-nieces, nephews, and caring cousins. Mary’s long-time friends, Barb Arnold, Sue Schmidt and Ann Causgrove were her great companions. Special thanks to Charter Senior Living in Bay City for the exceptional care and the family atmosphere they provided. Mary's quality of life was greatly enhanced just by living there.
In accordance with Mary's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for December 8, 2023, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM until the 11:00 AM service at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 206 Scheurmann St., Essexville, MI, with Pastor Seok officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Pentwater, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Luke's United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Bay County.
