Obituary of Chester Daniel Czernel
Please share a memory of Chester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chester D. Czernel passed away November 22, 2023 at the age of 75, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 31,1948 to the late Chester Czernel and Rita Szczubalkia in Detroit, Michigan.
Chet worked and owned Shar Vending with his wife, Sharon for over 40 years. He was known as the "Coffee Man" to all his customers. He lived in Warren until his retirement when he moved Up North to the beautiful Lake Ogemaw where he spent many mornings enjoying his coffee on the deck and watching the sun rise. He loved taking people, especially his grandchildren, on boat rides to get ice cream, where he enjoyed his praline pecan on a waffle cone. Chet and Sharon officially became snow birds and spent the winter months in Florida. Chet loved playing cards, specifically Rummikub and Canasta where he always had a conniving way of winning. He also loved to cook, and is known for his autumn soup. We can’t forget his famous mashed potatoes. Before bed every night he had to have his Chips Ahoy chunky chocolate chip cookies. Chet didn't have a mean bone in his body, and was a well-respected and good man who was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Chester is survived by Sharon, his loving wife of 53 years; his son, Matthew (Viola) Czernel and his daughter, Renee' (Tommy) Bistrick; 4 grandchildren, Matthew II, Jayson, Kaitlyn, and Danielle; his sisters, Theresa Lazar and Sharon Ann (Tom) Spanski; his brother, Wally (Theresa) Szczubalkia; loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and his dogs, Poncho and Shilo. Chester was predeceased by his step-father, Stanley Szczubalkia; sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Mike Onusko; and brother-in-law, Jerry Lazar.
