I first met Betty when I was 15 years old at Stride Rite in the Courtland Center. Betty hired me pretty much on the spot for my very first job. I was very shy but Betty taught me how to stand up for myself and come out of my shell. I worked for Betty fitting babies and kids shoes for 4 years. The memories of helping her put the shoe display window together at Stride Rite for each season was her favorite thing to do. And we had the best display window out of the whole mall! When it was senior picture time, she took me to JC Penney and had me pick out a sweater and bought it so I could look nice in my pictures. At the age of 19, I got engaged to my high school sweetheart Jeffrey. Betty was so happy for us that she wanted to make my bridal shower cake. And it turned out beautiful. After I got married, it was time to leave Stride Rite and head into the dental field and college. Betty taught me to be strong and courageous. She had a heart of gold and was a giver. Always doing for others. And her sense of humor was the best when working with her. Betty thank you for those memories and your kindness. I know you’re in paradise now. Until we meet again one day. Love always, Amber
