Lucille Wilebski

Obituary of Lucille J. Wilebski

Please share a memory of Lucille to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

I passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023 at my home in Rose City, Michigan, surrounded by my loving family.  I felt blessed to have been sustained through these many years by the love and support of so many dear friends and family.  I was especially comforted by all of you who shared this final journey with me and by those who took care of my needs during this time.  My license plate said “Lucky Lou” and that was very appropriate because I was so fortunate to have had you share your life with me.

I was preceded in death by my mother, Pearl Crager-Simmons and by my grandparents Arthur and Ollie Spashett.  I was also preceded by my two half-sisters, JoAnne and Marlene, my half-brother Ger, and my son-in-law Robert Kasprzyk.

I often referred to myself as “Lucky Lou” because I was lucky in love by having two wonderful marriages.  Now I look forward to reuniting with my loved ones in the after-life.

I am survived by my daughters, Linda Kasprzyk of Rose City, Michigan, and Carol (Phil) Motell of  Endicott, New York.  I also leave behind six  grandchildren:  Cindy (Steve) Moran, Brian (Autumn) Mier, Patrick (Heather) Mier, Kevin Nunn, Brian (Noelle) Nunn, and Scott (Kelly) Nunn; great-grandchildren Cody (Samantha) Stahl, Cassie (Jake) Grush, Miles Mier, Brooklyn and Kennedy Nunn, and Brayden and Brenna Nunn.  Additionally, I am survived by three great-great grandchildren: Bella, Ellie, and Jack.

In 1961 my husband Jim and I built and operated Hendriks Island Lake Resort which we continued to run until 2003.  During this time, I was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Rose City and Holy Family Catholic Church in West Branch.  I belonged to the Ogemaw County Genealogical Society and was a founding member of the Rose City Area Historical Society.

During my leisurely hours I especially enjoyed gardening, card playing, visiting friends, socializing at the Senior Center, and snowbirding on the Gulf Coast.  My greatest pleasure and happiest memories are the loving times I spent with friends and family.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Peters Road in West Branch on Friday, Dec.15th at 2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Rose City Historical Society.
