Obituary of Kay Alice Blessing

Kay A. Blessing, age 88 of Birch Run, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 13, 2023 after a brief illness. Kay was born September 19, 1935, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Roy and Louisa (Hicks) Kramer. She graduated from Birch Run High School with the class of 1953. She continued her education at Central Michigan University, earning her bachelor’s degree in education. She taught elementary school for over 35 years, spending the majority of those years in the Birch Run Area Schools. Kay was an active and lifelong member of Taymouth Presbyterian Church, where she was baptized as a child. She enjoyed spending most of her time gardening, playing cards, collecting antiques, and being entertained by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and educator who will be remembered for her calming and patient presence. 
 

Surviving are her children, Kelly (Gary) Blessing of Fowlerville and Ben (Paula) Blessing of Birch Run; three grandchildren, Tracy (Tyler) Periard, John (Courtney) Blessing, and Emily (Hugh) Cuthbertson all of Birch Run; six great-grandchildren, Quinn Periard, Blair Periard, Bo Periard, Wren Periard, Brock Blessing, and Barrett Blessing.
