Obituary of Michael Eugene Newton

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael E. Newton, age 73, born on August 31, 1950, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, peacefully at home, with his family holding his hand as he went to meet his Lord. To greet him in heaven were his Mom and Dad, affectionately known as Bud & Gin; grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends.

Left to miss him is his loving wife, Debbie, whom he married on May 7th, 1982. They shared a special love that inspired many to believe that true love is real. His daughter, Jodi (Pat), his son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Dayna, he loved his children beyond measure. Five grandchildren Dylan, Ryleigh, Logan, Amelia, and Lydia, who were the joy of his heart! His brother, Pat (Sherry) Newton. His Mother-in-law Jo-Ann (Floyd) Berthiaume, Sister-in-laws Sandy (Bobby) Kelley, Linda (Cecil) Wood, Barb (Jesse) Wood. Nieces and nephews Steve (Jenny), Becky (Chris), Kelly and Andy (Jenny), aunts & uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Mike was a kind, gentle, and faithful man (though he could be stubborn). He was funny and loved to joke around. One of his favorite shows was the "The Sharter" he really wanted one so he could prank people. He loved God, his family, motorcycles, hockey, animals, cars, being on the water, and camping, but what he loved most was being with his family. Mike served in the United States Navy from January 31, 1969, to November 25, 1970. After returning he returned to work for RWC, until he retired on August 31, 2012.

He served as Pastor of Fraser Road Church of God where he touched the lives of many with his compassion, wisdom, and love of Jesus. Mike never met a stranger; he could talk to anyone. He listened and made you feel special. He cared deeply, loved unconditionally, and really was the most amazing man. Comforting words from good friends during his courageous battle is how most thought of him. "Tell Mike we've always been inspired by him. His faith, humor and open love is an example we should all follow."  He will be missed, but he will not be forgotten. We take comfort knowing you are resting easy in the arms of your Lord.
