James Rathbun passed away on December 26, 2023, in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 79. Jim was born in 1944 to Ethan and Ruth Rathbun in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Essexville, Michigan.  He liked taking road trips around Michigan and working on and riding his recumbent trike that he built. He loved singing karaoke, and with the choir at Charter Senior Living.

He is survived by three children, Alisha (Carter) Rathbun, James R. Rathbun, and Ethan Cody Rathbun; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Braden Carter.

He was born the third child of seven siblings, Ethan Eugene, Leona Lou {Ryter), June Elaine (Feeney), David Leon, Diana Lynn (Straight), and Janet Marlene (Horowitz). Jim was predeceased by his brother David.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1705 Nebobish Avenue, Essexville, Michigan, with the Rev Erwin Hutter officiating.  A reception will follow in the Friendship Hall at the Church. Jim will be taken to his beloved Colorado to be with his parents and brother.

In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, or the Wishes of the Family. We would like to thank Charter Senior Living and Hospice for their care and compassion.
