Obituary of Susan Ida Jando

Susan Jando, age 84, of Caro, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Susan was born March 17,1939 in Jackson, Michigan to the late Montgomery Vanderpool and Almeda Bacon. 

On October 8, 1970 Susan was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Jando. Their marriage was blessed with forty-seven years and countless memories "As One" before his passing in 2017.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary #4164, the American Legion, and the Cass River Pet Friendz. Susan enjoyed dancing, garage saling, and caring for hundreds of cats throughout her lifetime. Her love and compassion for cats was undeniable. This love led Susan and her husband to begin the first cat rescue in Caro, where they continued to home and care for cats for over 30 years.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Susan Mitas and Julia Randall; son, Cecil (Bubbie) Randall; step-sons, Bobby and Johnny Jando; brother Gerald Vanderpool; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by brothers, Montgomery, George, and John Vanderpool; sisters, Mary Lee, Virginia Reamer, and Sandy Bacon; step-sons, Phillip and Ricky Jando.

In honoring Susan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at VFW Post #4164, 1030 W.
