Obituary of Connie Jean Coleman

Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Connie Jean Coleman, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 14, 2024 with her family at her side. She was born on May 1, 1936 in Republic, Pennsylvania to Leroy Palmer and Mary Ellen (Palmer) Wanless. Connie raised three children. She loved traveling, bird watching, being in the great outdoors, and especially spending time with her family. Through her love of history, we will always be in awe of and indebted to her, for her willingness to share her seemingly unending knowledge.  Her quick wit made it so fun to be around her. Connie worked over 50 years in the trucking industry, and owned Coleman Logistics. Connie will surely be missed.                                             

She is survived by her children, daughter, Mary Ellen (Brian) Oldenburg, of Carrollton; sons, Anthony (Sharon) Dijak Jr., of Saginaw, and Marc Coleman, of Saginaw; her sister, Margaret Wanless, of Saginaw; five grandchildren, Heather (Darrick) Kage, of Hemlock, Coryn Hauser, of Saginaw, Nickolas (Tamra) Dijak, of Saginaw, Derek Coleman, of Northville, and Nathaniel Coleman, of Saginaw; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maryellen Connie Walker; mother, Mary Ellen Wanless; step-father, Gilbert H. Wanless Sr.; sister, Janice M. Wenzel; brother, Gilbert H. Wanless Jr.; and brother, James A. Wanless.              

Honoring Ms. Coleman's wishes, cremation has taken place. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to a local animal shelter. Connie loved and cared for many many animals in her lifetime.
