Obituary of Thomas Eugene Holmes

Thomas E. “Patches” Holmes, age 87, of Durand, died Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Thomas was born in Flint, Michigan on December 7, 1936. He was a member of Swartz Creek Lodge #458 Free and Accepted Masons (F&AM) and an Honorary member of Byron Lodge #80. He belonged to the Elf Khurafeh Shriner Clown Unit and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Thomas was employed at General Motors Flint Assembly, retiring after 30 years of service. 

Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Marlene; children, Christine Persall (Holmes), Thomas Scott (Michelle) Holmes, and Debbie Vasicek (Holmes); 19 grandchildren; 21, great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kelly Lipp (Holmes); great-grandson, Grayson Bowen; brothers, Bob and Dick; stepbrother, Jack; and sister, Kathleen.  

Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held on May 4, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Swartz Creek Masonic Temple, 7449 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County at https://shiawasseehospice.org/
