“Oh Dear” In loving memory of Grandma Dee, who we affectionately knew as "THE Crazy One," With a great sense of humor, Grandma Dee taught us to find joy in our lives, reminding us to never take ourselves too seriously (and also to never pass up a lobster… or 6.) It was ironic that her favorite card game with us was that of “Spite and Malice”; neither of which words you could find otherwise in her life. Through many card games, sometimes late into the night, she was a beacon of wisdom and kindness, always encouraging us to find the best within ourselves. Her unwavering faith and devotion to living a good Christian life served as a guiding light on a path for us to follow. Though she may have been known as "THE Crazy One," to us, she was simply extraordinary— we will cherish the memories and love that she gave us.

She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to pieces! She loved playing games with them, being silly with them, spoiling them! She loved to treat them especially with ice cream.

My mom was a very fun person! She loved to go to parties and have parties! She always made her own birthdays fun just by being silly! She loved to make a dessert that she called fluff which was made with whipped cream and little marshmallows. She has made several different flavors.

Grandma Dee was one of those people that brought brightness and happiness wherever she went. She was always laughing and her laughter was contagious. She welcomed anyone that needed love and family and made them part of her family. We will miss her.

I'll always remember Dee as Mrs. Mumby but not as a teacher. She was a neighbor, and a fellow church member, and both Cathy and Linda "sat" with Me and my brothers John & Duane (Earle) many times. I'm pretty sure that the first time I ever had pizza it was from one of those Chef boy-ar -dee kits and that Linda & her mom were involved. I'm not sure whether I walked by her house more when delivering the Owosso Argus Press or while playing the 6th Hole at Corunna Hills.

I had my mother for kindergarten and people would say “oh you must have gotten special treatment” Are you kidding me? She would treat me like every other student. If I miss behaved I was disciplined. I didn’t try to misbehave but I loved to talk. I am a very social person. ( Just like my mom) What was funny about that is that she was very shy as a child but came out of that shyness and became a wonderful teacher. There are so many teachers in our family. It is a gift from God to be able to teach. I know for a fact that she loved to teach. My mother taught at several schools public and Christian Schools. She ran Bible schools in the summer, Wrote and put on many plays and was so good at what she did. My mother was such a wonderful example for me and others. She taught Sunday School from small children to adults. She also did Bible Studies in her later years and made many lasting friendships. After I married she became my best friend. I would call her all the time with questions or to just talk No matter where she was she would fly or drive back to Michigan when I would have a baby. She helped me so much and I so appreciated her listening ear and helpful suggestions. I really miss her and think about her and all that she did to make me who I am. I am so glad you are in the arms of Jesus with no pain and no sorrow.

We take comfort in knowing mom found her faith early, dedicating herself to the Lord at such a tender age of 5. Her genial nature, abundant generosity and infectious joy touched many lives. Not only did she nurture her own children with wisdom and kindness, but extended her motherly love widely. Her passion for teaching, particularly about the Scriptures, was evident. Her laughter echoed brightly throughout moments of travel, parties or Bible studies alike. Heaven gained a precious lady Dolores Evelyn, my sweet sweet mom!

I was a student of Mrs. Mumby
at Eveleth School in grades 4th through 6th. I remember the Christmas programs. One was the Elves and the Shoemaker. It is amazing all the work that went into them, from costumes to props and music for the whole school body. One year I player the part of the Virgin Mary as we acted out the Nitivity. I will always look back on those days as being truly memorable. We were blessed to have such an amazing teacher (Mrs. Mumby)who cared about her students. ❤️
