Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Susan "Sue" Kay London, age 66, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away on March 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born on February 11, 1958, to the late Duane and Barbara London in Oscoda, Michigan, and graduated from high school there in 1976. She furthered her education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources and a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan.
Sue's professional journey led her to Chicago, Illinois, where she served as a reference librarian at Northwestern University for 7 years before relocating to Indianapolis, Indiana. In Indianapolis, she dedicated herself to a career as a research librarian and history of medicine consultant at the Indiana University-Purdue University campus until retiring to Bay City in 2019.
In addition to her work, Sue devoted much of her free time to volunteering at the Indianapolis Zoo, where she formed special bonds with the orangutans and meerkats. When not immersed in library work or caring for animals, Sue found joy in relaxing with her rescue cats and creating beautiful jewelry.
Sue is survived by her siblings: Bob (Beth) London, Bill London, and Pat (Dave) Wyers; nieces and nephews: Denise London, Duane London, Erin (Andrew) Salk, Michael Wyers, Callie (Mitchell) Carnes, and her cherished cat, Akorn. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Duane and Barbara London, and her sister, Kathy London.
Cremation has been conducted, and a celebration of Sue's life will be held at a later date this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Reuben's Room Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in honor of Sue's passion for animal welfare www.reubensroom.org
