Obituary of Mary Ilene Haddix

Mary Ilene Haddix, age 91 of Rhodes Michigan (formerly of East Tawas), passed away March 22, 2024. She was born July 15, 1932 to Severt A. Wedvick & Janet L. Wedvick in Albion, Wisconsin.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, East Tawas.  She enjoyed painting with oils, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. 

She is survived by her children, Joan I. Haddix, Robert L. Haddix (Barbara), Cynthia M. DiDonato (Haddix) (David); grandchildren, Aaron Haddix (Kristin), Kevin Haddix (Kellie), Nicole Trombley and special friend Ashley McWhinnie, Chelsea Trombley and special friend Alex Rumpel; great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Kody, A.J., Kacy, Kylie, Asher, Colton, Reese, and Peyton.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Haddix Sr.; brother, S. Allen Wedvick; and sister, Ina K. Jasensky. 

Robert and Mary met in Madison Wisconsin while she was attending cosmetology school, and Robert was on an Air Force layover. They met at a USO dance in 1951, and were married on July 14, 1951. After Robert returned home from the Korean War, Mary traveled the United States with her husband for 20 years while he was in the Air Force. Mary worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. Upon Mary and Bob’s retirement, they settled down in East Tawas, Michigan.
