Kay Marlene Neer, age 89, of Saginaw, MI passed away Monday April 1, 2024 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Kay was born on September 12, 1934 in her grandparent’s home in Alma, MI to the late Creston and Fae (Sabin) Chivington. Kay graduated from Saginaw High School in 1952 and SVSU summa cum laude in 1982.
Kay was an avid reader, loved knitting, gardening, traveling, and music, playing French horn and flute in her early life and piano most of her life. Over the years she knit and donated thousands of hats to Covenant babies and homeless shelters. She was the most wonderful cook and passed that love of cooking and baking down to her family. In her 70’s she enjoyed watercolor painting.
Kay is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dr. Robert T. Neer and four children, Susan Quinn, Thomas Neer, Elizabeth Neer, and Kristin Strachota (Don). She also has five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by her sister Carol.
Honoring Kays wishes cremation has taken place. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of her life at a later date, to be announced.
