Obituary of Joan Margaret Kobel

Joan M. (Riley) Kobel passed away peacefully at home April 18, 2024. Joan was born July 30, 1934 to the late Emmett and Lola (Cochran) Riley. Joan was a graduate of Saginaw High School, class of 1952 after which she proudly served in United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon returning home she went to work for Michigan Bell Telephone, retiring after 25 years. She was a member of Community of Christ Church. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed having them visit.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Kobel and Kristi Kobel; three grandchildren, Jesse (Shaunne) Chacon, Angela Young and Devon Kobel; one sister, Patricia Bennett; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two fur babies, Puddles and Pete. She was predeceased by one daughter, Kathy J (Kobel) Chacon; one grandson, Kyle T. Kobel; former husband, Thomas H. Kobel; three bothers, Robert Riley, Kenneth Riley, and Charles Riley; two sisters, Beverly Riley and Mildred Riley, brother-in-law, Earl Bennett; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Riley and Jacqueline Riley; and one niece, Joy Bennett.
A Memorial Service will be held at Oakwood Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot Road, Saginaw, MI, May 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
