James Clifton “Jim” Weinrich, age 83 passed away on April 28, 2024 peacefully at his home in Oakley, Michigan. Jim lived in Howell, Michigan, with Suzy, his wife for 32 years prior to moving back to Oakley in 2022.

Jim was born in Holtville, California on July 19, 1940 the son of James C & Ava Ruth (Thomas) Weinrich, Sr. Jim grew up in Downey, CA. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jim worked in sales in many industries and later moved into the financial industry with American Express, later Ameriprise Financial Advisors. Jim became a Compliance Officer, owning his own business, Detroit Compliance Group overseeing financial advisors in several states. He was a respected businessman who retired in 2018.

Jim married Suzy (Perry) Weinrich on August 23, 1974, and she survives him. He is also survived by daughter Pamela (Ben) Wesley as well as beloved granddaughters, Shaina (Scott) Schneider, Anne (Ben Mitchell) & Hannah (Corey) Stratton; also the lights of our life, great-grandchildren, Leigha, Ben & Landyn Schneider, Drew Stratton, Madison & Harper Mitchell; his sisters-in-law, Gail (Davis) Weinrich and Monica (Ken) Garske; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents; his sister & brother-in-law, Nancy (Bob) Sousa; and his brother, Robert (Bobby) Weinrich.

Jim was a man of many talents & interests. While living in California he was a drag racer and engine builder for many of the well known racers in southern California. After moving east, finally to Michigan, he continued his car interests, he and Suzy had a hobby photography business, sailed the Great Lakes and raced the boat in club racing as well as the Port Huron to Mackinaw Race. Jim traveled the world with his work & later with Suzy when they began to Scuba Dive. A favorite was Cozumel, MX where they formed friendships with people from all over the globe. Much time was spent at athletic events with Pam & time continued to be spent attending events with the grandchildren as well.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place in the coming months. Jim did not want a formal funeral, he was always up for a party so that is what we intend to provide.
