Obituary of Betty Lee Combs

Betty Lee Combs, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, at Stratford Pines Nursing Center in Midland, Michigan. Betty was born July 31, 1944 in Flint Michigan. Betty attended Midland Public Schools and graduated from Great Lakes Junior College. Betty married Charles Combs May 3, 1963, in Midland.
Betty worked for many years as a Pharmacy Technician at Kmart, then worked inside of Dow as a contractor. She retired from Maple Hill as an accounting clerk in 2016. Betty spent many years working as a volunteer against Domestic Violence with the ShelterHouse of Midland. She was active in Bible Studies at St. John’s Lutheran, and crafting her hand embroidered cards as a hobby. For 61 years, Betty along with Charlie enjoyed their family, their interests of dancing, and camping, along with being the neighborhood parents to many kids on Haley Street.
Betty is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Shelley (Patrick) Sayen of Bay City, Michigan, and Debra (Roger) Dice, of Midland Michigan; grandchildren, Jessica Trader (Dean Wontorcik), Aimee Trader (Adam Martin), Alyssa (Ciaran) Altman, Seth Dice, and Jason Trader (Christine Church); and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her newborn son, Charles; her parents, Betty and Clarence Schukofski; her mother-in-law, Myrle Combs; and brother-in-law, Jimmie Thurston.
Per Bettys wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation and memorial service will take place Friday June 7, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 505 E. Carpenter St, Midland Michigan 48642, with Visitation at 10 AM, and a Memorial Service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, with donation envelopes available at the church.
Betty’s family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Stratford Pines Nursing and Rehab of Midland for the outstanding care she received over the last 7 years.
