Phyllis Irene (Cron) Holcomb passed away with family by her side on May 25, 2024 at the age of 86. Phyllis was born at home to Jennie and Oliver Cron on October 4, 1937. She graduated from Midland High School where she met James Holcomb, and they married on July 13, 1956. Together they had five children, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Phyllis and Jim built two houses in their 67 years of marriage and loved having a garden. Phyllis taught knitting to 4-H members, and encouraged her kids to attend several 4-H groups and enter their knitting, sewing, canning, and baked goods in the Midland County Fair. She sewed amazing projects, including Halloween costumes, special dresses, and quilts. Her beautiful quilts earned 1st place on more than one occasion. She enjoyed camping, making many family trips to East Tawas and Mackinaw. She loved attending her kid’s and grandkid’s school and sporting events. Phyllis lovingly cared for her five children before starting her career as a Secretary, first working for Dow Chemical, and then for the City of Midland at City Hall and Grace A.
