Thelma, age 86, passed away May 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born June 9, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Wanda 0’Conner (McRae) and Robert Yarger.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, puzzles, reading, and playing cards; but more than anything, loved being with her family. She retired from Mid-Michigan Community Action Agency and was active in serving her community and surrounding counties. 

She is survived by her brother, Art; sister, Donna; her children, Helen Johnson, Thomas Varney Jr. (Julie), Patricia Zilska (Mark), Dee Leavitt, and Donna Varney (Carla); her grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson (Mel), Michael Johnson (Kelly), Melissa Johnson, Casey Johnson (Terrah), Thomas Varney III (Katie), Matthew Varney (Amy), Krystal Varney (Andrew), Amber Manning (Mike), Courtney Leavitt (Brandi), Nate Grady, and Lauren Schultz; many great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary “Ruth” Hill, and her brother, Robert “Bob” Yarger. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 29, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
