Obituary of Eric Robert Kott

 Eric Robert Kott, of Morrice Michigan, passed away June 13, 2024. Eric was born on August 10, 1977 in Lansing to Ed and Patty Kott.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and building relationships with his customers.  Eric especially enjoyed watching his son, Dakota, play ice hockey and all the wonderful memories surrounding this.  He had a strong passion for helping others and was driven to meet the needs of his customers and to do those extras that truly mattered.  Eric was the epitome of a servant’s heart, giving of his time and talent.  He was gifted in many ways and constantly looked for ways to help others using his talent.  Eric was known for helping with various projects, some that were even deemed impossible, sharing his skills in welding, fabrication and custom machining, automotive body repair and custom paint to tattooing.  Honestly, if it was creative, there wasn’t much Eric couldn’t do.  He was truly one of a kind and did what he could to put the needs of others before himself.   It was his selfless heart that got him out of bed every day. 

                Over the past year, our family was on a journey that we never saw coming and honestly weren’t prepared for.  But with Jesus, Eric valiantly took cancer head on.  He battled cancer with a warrior’s heart, never complaining about how he felt or the unending tests and procedures he endured.  Instead, he got up every day and continued to work, serve at church, support his family, and never once lived like he was dying.  The Lord was his strength each day.  He is now in heaven where there is no pain or suffering.  We will see him again because this world is not our home.  We are called to be God’s hands and feet here on Earth- exactly what Eric lived out every day. 

                Eric is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Holly; his son, Dakota; his parents, Ed & Patty; and his sister, Lindsay Walter.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Faith Church, 2300 Lake Lansing Road, Lansing, MI  48910.  A luncheon will be provided following the celebration.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Memorial Hospice, 1637 W.
