Obituary of Richard George Griffus

We bid farewell to Richard George Griffus of Bay City, Michigan, whose spirit transcended to eternal life on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 60 years of age.

Richard was born to Richard W. Griffus and Shirlee Griffus (Cummins) on September 20, 1963. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, hiking, riding bikes, and spending time outdoors. Richard was employed by Meijer and served the company for fifteen years. His greatest accomplishment in life was his daughter, Catherine. He adored her and cherished the days they spent together. Richard met his wife, Christal Griffus (Evans) in 1999. They were devoted to each other for 25 years. He loved cooking for his family and sharing stories of his experiences in life. He is deeply missed by those who knew him.

Surviving besides his wife and daughter, are his sister, Chris Matuzak (Griffus); nephew, Ben Matuzak; niece, Casey Matuzak; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Cindy Jo Griffus; nephew, Justin Matuzak; and cousin, Joseph Miller.
