Obituary of Richard Lee Richards
Richard L. Richards, fondly known as Dick, passed away on July 5, 2024, in Bay City, Michigan, at the age of 89. Born on December 31, 1934, in Garfield Twp, he lived a fulfilling life characterized by his dedication to his family and numerous passions. Dick was a skilled auto and boat mechanic who owned and operated his own garage in Bay City, Michigan. His mechanical expertise was only part of his wide array of skills; He was also a licensed pilot who enjoyed flying his own plane. His adventurous spirit was complemented by his love for the outdoors, where he spent many hours fishing and hunting. Dick and his wife Nancy also cherished traveling across the country in their motor home, exploring new places together.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy (Gray) Richards; and their blended family which includes, Michelle (Shelly) Larry Lenz, Lisa (Barry) Rubin, Theresa (Ron) Kuehnemund, Jim (Jean) Vos, Dean (Diane) Vos, and Wayne Vos. His legacy also lives on through his 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bessie (Raymond) Richards; his 9 siblings; his son, Kevin Vos; his granddaughter, Megan Donovan; and his great-grandson, Matthew Gulyas.
Details of the memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank everyone that cared for Dick, Dr Mark Ginther & staff, Bay County Region #7, Heartland Hospice, Bay City Comfort Memory Care, and his favorite nurse - granddaughter Sarah.
