Obituary of Michael James Johnston
Michael James Johnston “Mike”, age 64 of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly June 25, 2024 at Tawas Ascension St. Joseph in Tawas City, Michigan.
He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 1, 1959 to Sandy and Jack Wesley Johnston. For several years, Michael worked doing pyrotechnics at Wolverines Fireworks for several years; also worked at ITT for several years; and drove Semi over the road. He enjoyed researching his Native American and Scottish background; loved video games, traveling to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; visiting new places; and spending time with his grandchildren, friends, and family.
He is survived by his fiancé, Rose Thompson; his daughter, Jaime Lynn Johnston; son, Christopher Johnston; his grandchildren, Amber Ellison, Shania (Justin) Scott, Trent Johnston, Wyatt Butts, Major Johnston, Anna Marie Proper, and Timothy Michael Proper; great-grandchildren, Damien Albin Michael Briggs and Lilith Rose Marie Briggs; brothers, Wesley (Kay) Johnston, Glenn Johnston, Timothy (Marjorie) Coker, Curt (Kristen) Coker; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Sandy Coker and Jack Johnston; wife, Marilyn McArt; and grandson, Branden Ellison.
He will be remembered for being a loving father, uncle, brother, cousin, grandfather, husband, and friend.
