Obituary of Julie Kay Colling-DeMott

Julie K. Colling-DeMott, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2024. She was born on July 3, 1958, in Caro, Michigan, to William R. and Myrna Jo (Kennedy) Colling. Julie graduated from Caro High School in 1976, and married Linden J. DeMott on June 27, 2005.

From a young age, Julie always enjoyed working with and helping people, including at Bill's Foodland, the family grocery business in Caro. She later studied medical transcription at Davenport University and worked at the Michigan Cardiovascular Institute. Known for her sweet, kind, and generous spirit, Julie’s family nicknamed her “Pooh Bear”.

Julie cherished her life in the country. She found joy in walking in the woods, gardening, and feeding the deer, birds, and other creatures that visited her backyard. Julie's passion for cooking was evident, especially when she could use vegetables from her own garden. She dearly loved her border collie Angel, who was inseparable from her and loved catching balls and frisbees.

Julie is survived by her husband, Linden DeMott; her son, Donald James Putnam; her sisters, Tamara Colling and Kathleen (Colling) Earl; her brother, Timothy Colling; her mother-in-law, Dorina DeMott; her brothers-in-law Rody, Terry, and Jerry DeMott; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrna Jo Colling; her brother, Randall (Randy) Colling; her father-in-law, John DeMott; brother-in-law, Mike DeMott; and sister-in-law, Debra M. Colling. 

A celebration of life will be scheduled later this summer or early fall.
