Obituary of Philip Roger McGuire
Philip Roger McGuire, of Byron, Michigan, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024. He was born on March 10, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, and was a proud graduate of Byron High School. Phil attended Oakland University for undergraduate studies and graduated Cum Laude. He went on to attend Cooley Law School.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife, Diane (Darrow); their two children, Jonathan (Michelle) McGuire and Jennifer (David) Kuruc; grandchildren, Megan McGuire (Maxwell Stephan-Queen), Jason McGuire, Jake Kuruc and Madison Kuruc. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary (John) Boillat, Maureen (Mark Ladley) Bosker, Colleen McGuire (Armand Perrier), Patrick (Joelle) McGuire, Michael (Autumn) McGuire, and John (Becky) McGuire. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Marianne McGuire (Charlie Klein), his brother, Rob McGuire and sister, Lucille McGuire.
A veteran of the Army, Philip was a dedicated member of the Masons of Byron. He was an avid Catholic and deeply cherished his family and faith. Philip had a special love for his two fur babies. He loved road trips, was a history buff, and had a profound love for his country.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Church, Gaines, MI. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gaines, Michigan. The family will receive friends at 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. An internment with full military honors will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to VA Ann Arbor Health Care System, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
