Richard "Wolfman" Koboldt
August 13, 1947 – August 9, 2024

Richard Koboldt, affectionately known as "Wolfman," was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and passed away on the morning of August 9th after complications from surgery. He bravely faced the challenges of Dementia and Parkinson’s with strength and dignity.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Diane (Kelly), with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. He leaves behind his daughter Kelley Koboldt of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and his son Geoff Koboldt (Catherine) along with his grandchildren, Giana and Liam, of Corona Hills, California.

He dedicated 31.5 years of his life to General Motors Steering Gear (local 467) and Delphi, where he worked with pride and commitment building an American vehicle. Before his career, Richard served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968.

A man of faith, Richard was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Koboldt, his mother, Nancy Koboldt, and his sister, Janice Koboldt.

Richard was a free-spirited, high-energy, fun-loving man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Whether he was sharing vibrant stories and laughter with friends at the local bar, spending quality time with family up north at Higgins Lake or Tawas, or relaxing at home by the pool or watching sports, Richard lived life to the fullest. He and Diane were fortunate to spend the last 18+ years enjoying the warmth of Arizona during the winter months.

Though he had simple tastes, Richard's gestures were grand. He could often be seen cruising around in his trusty Ford F-150, treating the road as if it were his own starship. His home was his sanctuary, complete with a 40’x20’ pool that could have easily doubled as a small water park. An early adopter of technology, Richard was the proud owner of a 10’ satellite dish in the early 80’s, perhaps knowing more about the cosmos than the rest of us. His love for music was legendary—he would crank up the tunes and let them serenade the skies while he was outside.

Per his wishes, Richard was cremated. There will be no formal funeral service, but a small family gathering will be held at a later date to honor his memory. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan
