Obituary of Alfred William Raby, Jr.

Alfred “Butch” William Raby Jr., age 82 of Mayville, and formerly of Detroit, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2024 at Covenant Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born April 6, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Alfred and Isabell Raby.  Butch married Kristine Dennis on June 25, 1988 in Mayville.  Butch worked as a precision grinder hand but one of his greatest joys was fishing in the St. Clair River for walleye.  Another great joy in his life was spending time with his grandkids.  He also enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family and friends.

Butch is survived by his wife, Kristine; children, Fred (Amy) Werner, Malisa (Rick) Pyles, Kristal (Darnell) Baker, Sarah Moss, Kadee Raby, Tequita (Cory) Mays, Robert Raby, Brandon Raby and Matthew Raby; grandchildren, Darwin (Amy) Werner, Brad (Mikael) Werner, Devon Werner, Cody (Lauren) Pyles, Miranda Pyles, Jeremiah Mays, Hayden Jones and Tanner Raby; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Blake Werner; siblings, Judy (David) Benard, Sandy (Sal) Bruno, Don (Colleen) Raby, and Leo (Diane) Raby; brothers-in-law, Scott (Laura) Dennis and Dan (Gloria) Dennis; sister-in-law, Joan (Jack) Knowlton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Isabell Raby Sr., in-laws, Robert and Betty Dennis; son, Darwin Werner; sisters, Lynn (James) Kyle and Eileen Ludwig; and niece, Debbie Cueny.
