Greg Knochel

March 30, 1996 - September 20, 2024

Gregory Herbet Knochel passed away on September 20, 2024. He was born March 30, 1966, in Midland, Michigan to the late Fred and Helen Knochel. He is survived by the love of his life, Melanie Jenkins, his two brothers, Sid and Fred Knochel, his adored nieces, Samantha and Alyiah Knochel as well as many friends and relatives.

Greg graduated from H.H. Dow High School in 1984. He attended Delta College in Saginaw Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing Michigan in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in business. In 1994, he partnered with his mother's business, Telemarketing Services, Inc. Together, they expanded Telemarketing Service Group into a family business involving three locations. In 2002, he and Melanie began investing in rental properties in MIdland, MI. In 2007, he received his Builder's License from the State of Michigan. As side businesses, Greg had a small concrete business and was an independent contractor as a building inspector for new constructions. In 2009, he bought a franchise from LA Insurance. He and Melanie ran the insurance business for 12 years and retired in 2021.

Throughout his life, Greg enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, jet skiing, snowmobiling, and jet sprint boat racing. His greatest interests were in technology,  investment strategies, new business opportunities, and science involving outer space. One of his greatest pleasures was talking with his mom for hours about finding new business opportunities.  He was self taught in building and programming computers. He designed and built the log home in the woods that he had dreamed of as a young boy.

Greg was a very private person who didn't like to be the center of attention nor did he find the need to brag about any of his successes. He was loyal, trustworthy, genuine, kind, compassionate and giving. When he knew someone was in need, he'd find a way to help. He wasn't one to complain or want to be fussed over. He believed that a life well lived was seen by a person's actions, not in empty words. His friends were his friends for life and he believed family always came first.

Together, he and Melanie shared twenty-nine years of laughter, adventures, joys, heartaches, and unconditional love.

Per Greg's wishes, cremation has taken place. An informal gathering to celebrate the life of Greg  will be held on October 5, 2024, starting at 3pm, at his home located at 837 W. Gage Rd, Sanford MI 48657.
