Stanley "Bruh" Thomas Murry
Stanley passed away peacefully at home with his family in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 29, 2024 at age 72.
He was born April 20, 1952 in Union Springs, Bullock County, Alabama. His family moved to Bay City Michigan when he was just 6 years old.
Stanley enjoyed sports, music, and cars (especially his '89 corvette). He had a strong work ethic, and he was an amazing athlete. He played city league fast pitch softball from his teen years into his twenties. He played basketball and football at Bay City Central High School, where he graduated from in 1971. He went on to study for two years at Delta College.
Stanley married Kimberley Kay McDonald in 1991. Together, they raised a daughter, Stephanie Kay (Ayala) Knapp. "Murr", as his now ex-wife affectionately called him, was a wonderful provider and always made sure "his girls" were taken care of.
Stanley knew everyone everywhere he went. He worked at Ray's Food Fair which later became Giant. He went to work for Paul Benchley Sr., at Benchley Builders. He then worked for Paul Benchley Jr., at Paul's Plumbing and Heating Co. where he formed a close bond with the Benchley family. He loved helping Paul Jr. on the farm. Mrs. B treated Stanley like a son and always had breakfast, coffee, and a cookie ready to go for him.
Stanley was the BEST grandfather to his 3 grandkids, Steven Jr., Seth, and Arizona Stanley. He had just recently become a great-grandfather to a precious little girl named Keilani.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Charles, Aaron, Sheldon, Delphine, Larry, and Carol.
He was predeceased by his father, Deacon James Thomas Murry; his beautiful mother, Stanley Mae Laster; his Big Sister, Elizabeth (Jackie) Smith; his Paternal grandparents, Emmett Murry and Ethel Lee Smith; and his Maternal grandparents, Stanley "Bear" Laster and Savannah Pritchett.
He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and cousins; his Aunt Pat and her children, Marcy and Billy Johnson; and his best friends, Dave and Kenny.
Per Stanley's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no service. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
