Obituary of William Fredrick Schmidt

William “Bill” Frederick Schmidt, age 90, of Roscommon, Michigan, was born to Helen and William Schmidt on December 19, 1933, and passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found joy in the simplest moments, prioritizing family, friends, and his many passions. Bill was passionate about snowmobiling, hunting, and boating. He was an avid Tigers, Lions, and Michigan football fan, always cheering on his teams. There was also a time when he and his good friend, Bud, attended several NASCAR races, and Bill became a huge Jeff Gordon fan. His warm spirit, wisdom, and generous heart touched everyone around him.
He is survived by his brother, Peter (Cherie) Schmidt; his son, Tim Schmidt (Dale); his grandchildren, Sarah (Dan) Jones and Jenny (Steve) Eby; great-grandchildren, Emily and JJ, Jason Hanselman (Emily); great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Lillian and Barrett; and grandchildren, Jamie Hanselman and Jeri Hanselman. He also leaves behind his son, Bill Schmidt Jr.; grandchildren, Heather (Rem) Simanovskiy and Jake Silcott; son, Rick Schmidt’s family includes grandchildren, Brett (Inez) Schmidt; and great-grandchildren, Riley Kai, Avery, and Maverick. His daughter Vicki, and the late Michael (Salib), have a child Derek (Holly) Salib; and great-grandchildren, Lillian, Charlotte, and Cooper; his son, Joel (Kelly) Schmidt has grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Jaden (Bedell), and Anna; and his daughter Julie (Kurt) Graber has grandchildren, Kylie and Jordyn.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, October 19, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2888 W. Houghton Lake Dr, Houghton Lake, MI 48629. Visitation with the family will be at church prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.
After the service, we invite you to join us at 121 Dewey St, Roscommon, MI 48653 for a Barn Bash to celebrate Bill's incredible life. Please wear blue in his honor, as it was his favorite color.
