Robert “Bob” Hunt
Essexville, Michigan
Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man. Bob, age 66, was born October 29, 1958 in Owosso, Michigan. He lost his battle with cancer on November 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Letha Hunt, and by his brother, Frank. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Marti) Hunt, Don (Jane) Hunt, Dave (Janine Petragnani) Hunt, and John Hunt; daughter, Jessica (Nathan) House; and grandsons, Rowen and Evan House.
As we share our memories, we remember a man whose passion for life, love for family, and dedication to his country defined him.
Bob was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a testament to his courage and commitment. His service shaped him into the person we all admired—strong, steadfast, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He carried those values into every aspect of his life, influencing everyone fortunate enough to know him.
As a devoted father to Jessica and an extremely proud grandfather to Rowen and Evan, Bob cherished every moment spent with his family. Whether he was throwing a baseball with the boys or sharing stories from his own childhood, he created lasting memories that will be treasured forever. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his kindness and dedication to his family and friends.
Bob was a true outdoorsman at heart. He found joy in the tranquility of fishing and the thrill of hunting. His fly-tying skills were exceptional, turning a simple hobby into an art form that he loved to share with others. Whether on the water or in the woods, Bob appreciated the beauty of nature and taught his family to do the same. He was also a skilled woodworker who shared many of his creations with family members young and old.
He was a loyal fan to the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan football teams. He was a former basketball coach and enjoyed teaching his daughter and grandsons the art of his wicked throw.
As we remember Bob today, let’s celebrate a life lived fully—one filled with adventure, laughter, and unconditional love. He taught us the importance of family, the beauty of nature, and the joy of pursuing our passions. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on in each of us—in the stories we share, the lessons he imparted, and the love he so freely gave.
Bob, thank you for your service, for your love, and for the countless memories. We will carry you with us in our hearts, in every fishing trip, every game day, and every moment spent with family. You will be missed dearly, but your legacy will endure.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 3 pm – 6 pm, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, 700 N Monroe Street, Bay City Michigan, with a service following at 6 pm.
