Harold F. Holcomb, age 81 affectionately known to his family and friends as “Coach Hoke,” passed away on the evening of November 17, 2024 at Charter Senior Living Center in Bay City, Michigan after several years of declining health. Loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend, Hoke was born in Fremont, Michigan on February 19, 1943, the son of the late Lloyd and Edna Holcomb. He graduated from Fremont High School, attended and graduated from Central Michigan University, and proudly and passionately retired from a job he loved as an Educator and Garber Tennis Coach for Essexville-Hampton School District. Tennis was a passion to him and each of his tennis players meant the world to him as well! Hoke felt fortunate to have many of his past tennis players come to visit him throughout the years, sharing great memories.
Hoke leaves his wife of 34 years, Rene (Lore) Holcomb; along with his children, Matthew (Kari) Holcomb and Michelle Holcomb; and grandsons, Leo, Gil, and Judah Holcomb. Hoke also leaves bonus children, Christa Schubert and Jon (Jill) Schubert; along with grandsons Connor and Logan Schubert. He leaves loving sister, Judy (Calvin) Young; along with sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol & Marion Klosowski, John and Judy Lore, Raymond Lore and fond memories of deceased brother-in-law, Guy Lore and sister-in-law, Linda Lore. Hoke enjoyed and always looked forward to having many close friends and co-workers in his life. In keeping with Hoke's request, there will be no funeral service. We know he would want you to remember him with laughter and good times that he may have shared with you!
