Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George Nick Zigoris, of Midland, Michigan, a spirited adventurer and beloved family man, passed away on November 25, 2024, in Auburn, Michigan, at age 84. Born on January 22, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio, George was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Bertha (Karosi) Zigoris, and his sister, Marguerita “Sis” Sofranec.

George proudly served his country as a Marine from 1958 to 1962, a period that instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and camaraderie. After his honorable discharge, he married his first wife, Freda, and began a family that would grow to include three children.

In 1990, George married Debora, his cherished partner and best friend. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love and adventure, living in California before settling in Midland, Michigan, in 1996. Their shared passion for travel and family created countless cherished memories.

George's zest for life was evident in his many hobbies. He was an avid collector of model trains and radio control cars, and his adventurous spirit led him to pursuits such as skydiving, skateboarding, and rollerblading. He even began BMX racing because of his grandson, Mike. He delighted in sharing these interests, leaving a legacy of enthusiasm and curiosity.

George was a friend to all, never truly meeting a stranger. He was also a man of faith, trusting his life was guided by his Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Debora; siblings Tom (Lynn) Zigoris and Dena (Bill) Schnupp; brother in-law Bob Sofranec; his children Taleah Zigoris, Tom (Tammy) Zigoris, Theresa (Wayne) Brown and stepdaughters Rene (Bob) Wheaton and Amanda (Brad) Lutz; grandchildren Mike, Justin, Jeff, Nick, Destiny, Donovan, Wilson, Walker, Jack, Lincoln, Franklin, Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. George's life was a testament to the joy of exploration and the strength of family bonds. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
