Obituary of James Bashore
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James (Jim, “Nic”) Bashore, age 80, of Perry, Michigan passed away in the home he built, with his loving wife of 37 years, by his side. Jim was born in Lansing, Michigan to Elizabeth and Orval Bashore and graduated from Resurrection Catholic High School and held an associate degree in engineering. Jim married Martha (Hofacker) in November of 1987.
Jim loved his family, fishing, Corvettes, animals, and auctions. A jack of all trades and a quiet well-respected man who helped many. Jim was a member of the Capitol City Corvette Club, a Doberman rescue volunteer, collected money for The Lansing Old Newsboys, and a community servant on the Perry Township Board of Review as chairman.
Jim co-owned a business called Corvette Customs – where he worked restoring and repairing Corvettes, he worked several years at Dart Container as an engineer, and finally 25 years as a City of Lansing Fire Department firefighter and retired as a battalion chief, he then took up farming.
Jim was predeceased by both of his parents and a brother, Robert Bashore.
Survived by his wife, Martha; sister-in-law, Rita Bashore; brother-in-law, Rick Hofacker; son, Jason (Heather) Bashore; step-daughter, Annette (Joseph) Welch; step-daughter, Becky (Brent) Fleck; step-son, David Brehm; grandsons, Colton (Sarah) Brehm, Ben, Nicholas and Aiden; great-grandchildren, Mia and Chase; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
