Obituary of Cormac McNeilly Murphy

Cormac McNeilly Murphy of Shaftsburg, Michigan died on December 30, 2024.

He was born on November 17, 1983 in Seattle, Washington to parents, Brian Murphy and Colleen McNeilly-Murphy.  His family moved to Michigan in 1997, where he developed many interests, including; remote controlled cars, racing, music and music festivals, glass blowing, tinkering with engines and electronics, camping, fishing, cycling, disc golf, helping plants to grow, travelling and running for which he won many medals.  Cormac’s enthusiasm to obtain knowledge fueled his self-led education of a wide range of topics.  Cormac’s acquisition of knowledge produced conversations with many people about varied topics. He was creative and inventive.

Cormac is survived by his parents; sister, Maeve Murphy (Brian Gmuer); brother, Conor Murphy; niece, Mickey; grandmother, Betty Murphy; and many loving relatives, including aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is loved and will be missed.

 A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on the first full day of summer, June 21, 2025, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing, 5509 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Lansing, Michigan, Reverend Neal Anderson presiding.
