Obituary of Scott Guy Vatter

Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We bid farewell to Scott Guy Vatter, who departed from this world on January 6, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born on October 8, 1963, in Cass City, Michigan to Eugene and Mary-Ellen Vatter. He married the love of his life, Theresa Ann LaRoche, on May 8, 1982. He was blessed with four wonderful children, fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many family and friends as well.

Scott worked at Walther Farms for around 25 years, and also drove a semi-truck for many years. He was a friendly guy, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved camping, canoeing, fishing, building different things, and working with his hands. He really enjoyed working on his bird houses and his wishing wells. His dogs were a big part of his life, and they went on many adventures together. His greatest love was spending time with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Vatter; his children, Mandy (VJ) Paulson, Heidi Shippey, Heather (PJ) Vatter, and Christopher Vatter; his sister, Tammy (Chuck) Bliss; his brother, Todd (Wendy) Vatter; his grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; his mother, Mary-Ellen; two brothers, Mark and Timothy Vatter; his son-in-law, Jeffrey Shippey; and his father-in-law, James LaRoche.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm, February 2, 2025, at the Hillside Community Church, 4750 South St. Gagetown, Michigan, with a potluck dinner at the church immediately following the service. There will be a celebration of life gathering held for him July 19, 2025, at Evergreen County Park on M-53.

A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. Until we meet again, fly high in your adventures.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
