Obituary of Kay Elizabeth Meyer
Please share a memory of Kay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kay Elizabeth Sias Meyer passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the Toni and Trish House in Auburn, Michigan. Born on June 2, 1941, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late R. Douglas and June Elizabeth (Johnson) Sias, Kay's life was characterized by her unwavering faith and the joy she brought to those around her.
Kay's early years were filled with the love of a close-knit family, including her devoted brothers, Richard and Jim. Throughout her life, she maintained a strong bond with her siblings, cherishing the memories they created together. Kay's warm heart and generous spirit were a beacon of light for her extensive family, which grew to include her children, Deborah K. Raymond, Rick Meyer, and Timothy Meyer, as well as her adored grandsons, Matthew, Nathan, and Dean Meyer. She also held a special place in her heart for all of her nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Jean Sias, who were integral parts of her life's journey.
Kay's career started in retail, where her natural people skills shone brightly. Her spirit led her to become the proud owner of a day care, where she nurtured countless children with love and dedication. Kay's work reflected her deep commitment to her community and her belief in the importance of shaping young lives with care and compassion. She also showed that importance when she was a Cub Scout troop leader.
Known for her love for life's simple pleasures, Kay found solace and joy in picking the perfect shell on any and all beaches, fishing anywhere but especially in Frankfort and just appreciating nature’s beauty. Her love for crossword puzzles and reading kept her busy. But above all, Kay's favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends, especially Colleen, Kris, Robin and Kurt who were the cornerstone of her life. Her presence brought laughter, kindness, and comfort to every gathering, making every moment spent with her a cherished memory. Everyone who met her knew of her kindness as they were always greeted with a warm smile.
Kay's journey through life was marked by her resilience and grace, particularly during her brave battle with cancer. As a member of Emmanuel Baptist, Pastor Sam guided her even in her final days, to demonstrate faith, strength and a positive outlook that inspired all who were privileged to know her. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship.
As we bid farewell to Kay, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that touched so many. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love she gave so freely. Kay's memory will forever be held in the hearts of those who loved her.
Kay Elizabeth Sias Meyer's life will be commemorated in a private family ceremony in the spring to honor her memory. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but the warmth of her memory will continue to light the way for those she leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Kay, until we meet again. Fly with the angels…you have earned your wings.
