Obituary of Geraldine Olson

Please share a memory of Geraldine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Geraldine "Gerry" Olson, a cherished soul known for her loving and gentle nature, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at the age of 74 in West Branch, MI. Born on May 30, 1950, in Monroe, MI, Gerry's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the warmth of a caring heart.

Gerry's journey began as the beloved daughter of her parents Ida Blaser and Norman Blaser of Monroe, where she grew up alongside her sisters, Maryann Esper and husband Leo R. "Dick" Esper, Jan Bialy, and Norma and husband Thomas "Tom" Meyer. Her life was enriched by the close-knit bonds she formed with her siblings and extended family, which included her nieces and nephews, her godchild Curt Esper and Sue Esper, Tamara Bomia and Greg Bomia, Anita Passon and Lonn Passon, Rich Esper and Christine Huber-Esper, Heidi Engman and Jay Engman, and Scott Bialy and Denise Bialy. She was also Predeceased by her nephew Michael Bialy. These relationships were the foundation upon which she built her own loving family.

Gerry met and married the love of her life, Paul Olson, who became her partner in every sense of the word until his passing in 2018. Together, they raised two daughters, Kim Hall and Kerri Fountain, who married Justin Fountain. Gerry's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and she instilled in her children the values of love, compassion, and resilience. Her legacy continued to grow with the birth of her grandchildren, Samantha Hall, Dakota Hall, and Paige Fountain, and she was blessed to witness the arrival of her great-grandchild, Skylar Davis. Each new addition to the family brought Gerry immense joy and pride.

Professionally, Gerry dedicated many years to the retail industry, where her patience and kindness touched the lives of both colleagues and customers alike.
Outside of her professional life, Gerry's passions were simple yet deeply fulfilling. She adored her cats, who provided her with companionship and comfort. Her love for soap operas was well-known, as she found pleasure in following the intricate storylines and characters that became like extended family to her. Gerry also had a keen mind for fill-in puzzles, a hobby that not only entertained her but also kept her sharp and engaged.

Gerry's life was filled with love, family, and friendship. Her gentle spirit and loving nature were the hallmarks of her existence, and those who knew her were better for it.
As Gerry's family and friends reflect on her life, they are comforted by the countless memories and moments of joy she provided. Though she has passed from this world, her spirit remains a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know her. Geraldine Olson will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and gentleness will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.

Gerry's life was a journey of love, and as she is laid to rest, she is followed by many family members and cousins who live beyond her. Her presence in this world was a gift, and while she may have departed, her spirit will continue to be felt by all who cherished her.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
