Obituary of Ludwig P. Schaffner

Ludwig Peter Schaffner—May 10, 1927 to November 6, 2014 Born in Regensburg, Germany—went home to the Lord at his son's home in Prescott, Michigan. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineers post World War II, which encouraged him to emigrate to the United States in 1954. He settled in Saginaw, Michigan where he worked for the Home Dairy for a few years; attended Delta College, and worked for many years as a construction manager during the heyday of the sixties and seventies for F & T Contractors. He was a member of Auburn First Baptist Church. Survived by one son Perry Schaffner (Patricia) of Prescott, MI., Step daughter Inge Fitzgerald (Jim) of Kentucky, Grandsons Brandon (Holly) Schaffner of Saginaw, MI. and Ryan (Nicole) Schaffner of Prescott, MI; Step granddaughters Candy Forshee of Mio, MI, and Sandy Brown of Middletown, Ohio. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, as well as four step great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters Irene Tschirner and Hildegard Bornschlagl. A special mention for pastor Ed Lawrence and his dear friends Pam and Dave Crispin of Auburn, as well as his church family. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Ferstl Schaffner, his parents Ludwig Xaver Schaffner and Anna Frimberger Schaffner ; brother Gunter, and sister Elizabeth Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Auburn, 4853 Garfield Rd., Auburn MI. The service will be held immediately following the 11 AM worship service with Pastor Ed Lawrence officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice of West Branch, Michigan
