Obituary of Ruth Gager

Ruth Gager, age 80 of Alma, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Schnepp's Senior Care and Rehab Center, St. Louis, Michigan, with her family at her side. The daughter of William & Rebecca Rutherford, Ruth was born on February 26, 1934 in Sunshine, Kentucky. On October 8, 2014, she & her husband Bernard celebrated 64 years of marriage. Ruth was active in real estate for many years, but her proudest accomplishment was her time spent at Consolidated Die Cast/Sealed Power of over 20 years. There she worked on the line prior to becoming Personnel Director. She enjoyed time spent with all her family and friends as well as camping trips up north and traveling to Arizona and Florida. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Besides her loving husband Bernard, Ruth is survived by her daughter Glenda (Dan) Pendell and son Jim (Barb) Gager; grandchildren Troy (Lisa) Hooker and Carrie Hooker & fiancé Bob Elsea; Matthew (Shelley) Gager, Jack (Joanna) Gager and Kelly (Colin) Hughes; great-grandchildren Tanner Hooker; Taylor Sullivan; Thomas & Jane Gager; Evelyn & Drake Gager; and Ella, Nolan & McCauley Hughes. She is also survived by her sisters Geneva (Lester) Foster; Pearl (Ron) McKellar; Mary (Bob) Watson; brother John (Sheryl) Rutherford; sisters-in-law Lorelei Rutherford and Natalie (Harry) Stoner; brothers-in-law Arlo Gager, Ken (Geraldine) Gager; and Levi Gager as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Rebecca Rutherford, in-laws Cornelius and Anna Gager; brothers Boss, Ray, Louis and Eugene Rutherford; sisters Helen Rutherford and Edith Simonovic; and in-laws Joe Simonovic, Marvel Rutherford, Norma Gager, Bonnie Gager, John and Mary Gager, Naomi and Otto Parcher as well as several nieces and nephews. Per Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God, 520 Olive Road, St. Louis, with a luncheon immediately following in the fellowship hall. Final resting place will be Pine Grove Cemetery, Tyler Road, Ithaca.
