Obituary of Bernard L. Gager
Bernard L. Gager, age 85, died peacefully on Thursday November 27, 2014 at Schnepp' s Senior Care and Rehab Center, St. Louis, Michigan, with his family at his side. The son of Cornelius and Anna Gager, Bernard was born on June 3, 1929 in Alma, Michigan. On October 8, 2014, he & his beautiful wife Ruth celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Bernard worked and lived in the mid-Michigan area his entire life. He was a carpenter and "jack of all trades". He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends as well as camping and traveling to Arizona and Florida. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Bernard was predeceased by his beloved wife Ruth on October 28, 2014. He is survived by his daughter Glenda (Dan) Pendell and son Jim (Barb) Gager; grandchildren Troy (Lisa) Hooker and Carrie Hooker & fiancé Bob Elsea; Matthew (Shelley) Gager, Jack (Joanna) Gager and Kelly (Colin) Hughes; great-grandchildren Tanner Hooker; Taylor Sullivan; Thomas & Jane Gager; Evelyn & Drake Gager; and Ella, Nolan & McCauley Hughes.
He is also survived by his brothers Arlo Gager, Ken (Geraldine) Gager, and Levi Gager; his sister Natalie (Harry) Stoner; sisters-in-law Geneva (Lester) Foster; Pearl (Ron) McKellar; Mary (Bob) Watson; Lorelei Rutherford; brother-in-law John (Sheryl) Rutherford; and as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Anna Gager, brother John Gager and sister Naomi Parcher; in-laws Mary Gager, Norma Gager, Bonnie Gager, Otto Parcher, William and Rebecca Rutherford, Boss, Lewis, Helen, Eugene, Ray and Marvel Rutherford and Edith & Joseph Simonovic, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Per Bernard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A committal service will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tyler Road, Ithaca. A celebration of Bernard's life will be held following the committal at noon at the CSA Hall, 1404 Michigan Ave., St. Louis, Michigan.
