Obituary of Sallie Eliza Carter
Sallie E Carter fell asleep in death after a lengthy illness December 25, 2014 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center Stratford Village, Midland, MI. She was born on March 3, 1931 in Louisville, Mississippi, as one of 11 children to Emmett and Bessie W. Brown, both preceded her in death.
Sallie attended public schools in Mississippi, Michigan and School for Beauticians in Columbus, MS. She had been a member of the Mississippi Independent Beauticians Association, Inc. As a people person she had various service and independent commercial positions. She enjoyed reading, learning then sharing with family and friends. She was so thrilled to learn about Jehovah God's purpose and how we all can benefit by an in-depth study of the Holy Bible. As a result, in 1967 she dedicated her life to doing Jehovah God's will and assisting many individuals by the door to door preaching activity. Her inner strength, determination, courage and reliance on Jehovah left an indelible impression on all she encountered.
Surviving are her children, Darlene A (Richard Jr) Stephens of Warren, MI, Jeannette 'Trice' (Frederick E) Arnold of Midland, MI, Cheryl D. Carter of Saginaw, MI, Jethro Carter of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother Zachariah (Marie) Brown of Preston, MS; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Sallie was predeceased by Henry H. Carter the father of their five children, her son Hilton Carter, three sisters: Mary Alice Colman, Zelee Wade and Bessie Mae Jackson; six brothers: Tom Aubrey Brown, Emmett Elroy Brown, John Willie Brown, Verise Brown, Richard Gus Brown and McKinley Brown.
